Apple iPad Air 2 – Thinner, Lighter and Faster

Apple has unveiled next gen iPad Air named, Apple iPad Air 2. It is significantly slimmer with just 6.1mm thickness and sets a record for being the thinnest tablet on earth. Apple has also included the Touch ID fingerprint sensor at home button just like iPhone 5S.

Apple iPad Air 2 also has a 1536 x 2048 pixels, 9.7 inches LED-backlit IPS LCD Display with 264ppi, which is just the same on previous iPad Air. The main change is in processor with inclusion of Apple A8X chipset custom made for iPad lineup is 40% faster in terms of computing and 2.5x more capable in rendering graphics than A7 processor.

Another major improvement is in camera with 8-megapixels iSight camera in back, this is highest resolution camera on iPad’s and it does support 1080p videos, time-lapse videos, 120fps slow-mo videos and has burst mode included too. Apple missed to include LED flash which is kinda disappointing. The front camera also has been upgraded with new sensor delivering improved HDR, face detection.

There the same lot of connectivity options like dual-band WiFi a/b/g/n/ac, Wi-Fi hotspot, GPS, Bluetooth and option LTE/3G/CDMA connectivity. It also has similar battery life with average 10hours just like on iPad Air.

iPad Air 2 will come in Silver, Space Grey and Pale Gold color options in 16/64/128 GB variants with price of  $499/$599/$699 respectively for WiFi only models. Give another $130 and you could add LTE connectivity to the package. Older iPad Air will also be sold at $100 less which is great.

Pre-orders will start on October 17, in the US, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, China (Wi-Fi models only), Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Macau (Wi-Fi models only), Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Singapore, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the UK and shipping should begin next week.

More countries will be added to the list soon including Croatia, Greece, Puerto Rico, Russia, Turkey, United Arab Emirates and India along with other countries in coming month.
