Apple has upgraded the new iPad Air 2 significantly so that existing users might think to upgrade but same cannot be said about the Apple iPad Mini 3. It is basically the same tablet inside out with few minor changes.
iPad Mini 3 houses same old 7.9″ Display with resolution of 1,536 x 2,048 pixels. It has same Apple A7 processor and same battery. Even the camera has not being changed with same 5-megapixels iSight camera in rear and HD facetime camera iPad Mini 2 users won’t feel anything extra if they decide to buy iPad Mini 3.
The only few changes are inclusion of Touch ID Fingerprint sensor in Home Button, Apple Pay support, addition of new 128GB variant and removal of 16GB variants and lastly a Golden color option.
So the battery life is same old 10hrs with same thickness 7.9mm. It isn’t worth spending on same package again, but first time users have got few handy improvements at the same price.
iPad Mini 3 will be available for pre-order from next week in 16/64/128GB variants and it will be priced $399/$499/$599 for WiFi only models. If you want LTE connectivity then you need to shell out extra $130. It will be available in Silver, Space Grey and Golden colors.
The first wave of countries to be greeted by new iPad Mini 3 next week are US, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, China (Wi-Fi models only), Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Macau (Wi-Fi models only), Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Singapore, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and UK.
