HTC confirms Android Lollipop incoming in next 90 days
HTC has officially confirmed the receipt of source code for Android Lollipop 5.0 and has promised to update HTC One M7 and M8 within next 90 days. This means Android Lollipop will be ready by January 2015 as our earlier report indicated.
HTC is also working hard on Material Sense 7 UI and it will be part of Android Lollipop update hence there might be more delay. Although unlocked HTC One devices may receive update well before as HTC hardware is quiet similar to Nexus 5 with similar SoC so there will be less work needed, but mainly testing requires time.
Another aspect might be some insider leaking the test firmware for public just like last year Kitkat release and users reporting bugs indirectly helping HTC. Anyways whatever it might me HTC is all geared up to sweeten your smartphone experience.
All other devices from HTC should expect Android Lollipop after HTC One M7 and M8. Most of Snapdragon powered devices released in 2014 will be updated while the fate of Mediatek powered devices currently hangs on balance. All Mediatek powered devices will be updated if HTC is willing to spend resources.
