Samsung stuns us all Galaxy S5 receives Android Lollipop update
Samsung has shocked the critics with fast release of Android Lollipop 5.0 update for Galaxy S5 SM-G900F. Currently the update is available only in Poland but be rest assured other European countries will join the list soon in coming few days. As for Asia and US variants its hard to say as Asia has mostly Exynos variant so update may be under development and US update depends on carrier certification and testing.
As we witnessed a glimpse of features in Android Lollipop update it brings all the same features to table. The new update brings Android Lollipop much hyped Material Design guidelines to TouchWIZ UI which now feels colorful and smoother. It also look minimal and clean instead of earlier versions which felt cartoonish. Samsung has also forgone the bluish feel throughout the phone in favor of White color which looks minimal. There’s a bunch of live actions whenever you touch the phone which feels great.
Apart from user interface there’s ART runtime resulting in faster performance. Believe us when we tell you this is the fastest version of TouchWiz UI we have ever seen so Google have certainly optimized the Android Lollipop to consume less resources for faster performance. Project Volta which helps in preserving battery, encryption turned on by default, brand new lockscreen with notifications support, tap & go, priority mode, heads-up notifications, Smart Lock, MirrorLink and lots more under the hood. There’s also a clipboard functionality keeping record of everything copied and not just text.
So head to the Settings > About Phone > Software Update and check for software updates to receive Android Lollipop update notification. Certainly Samsung has greatly improved the software support for at least high end devices and Android Lollipop within 31 days of its source code release is no small feat. Finally Android seems to be catching pace with Windows Phone and iOS in terms of update.
If you didn’t get the update notification you can always use Odin and flash the file below to update to Android Lollipop but be warned that it’s Poland specific file so flashing on other countries variant may result in warranty loss.
