Samsung First Tizen Smartphone Leaked to be announced on January 18
After acquiring Meego, Samsung worked hard to develop Tizen and many leaks surfaced with premium end hardware showing Samsung might slowly shift to own software. But now the first device based on Tizen OS to be commercially available has been leaked.
The device in question is named Samsung Z1 currently and doesn’t possess the high end specs everyone earlier dreamed of instead it has budget hardware to challenge growing competition from Chinese vendors. It will have a 4-inch display of 800 x 480 pixel resolution, 1.2GHz Dual Core CPU and 768mb of RAM.
It will feature 4GB Internal memory and external card slot. The camera in rear is 3-megapixels with flash and front has a measly VGA camera. The most exciting part is it will be priced below $100 and go on direct competition from Chinese vendors and Google own Android One platform.
Samsung Z1 will be first launched in India at an event on 18th January with availability in other Asian countries soon thereafter. Samsung is also said to be working with developers to get their apps ported to Tizen OS as soon as possible.
