Why You Shouldn’t Buy Xiaomi India Products

How many times have we praised Xiaomi for its surprisingly cheap and powerful on paper specification sheet. With time it has come to our realisation that Mi India products are not as good as their reviews claim them to be.

This has been proven in our experience with last three big launches from Mi India. Mi4i was the first to disappoint. Although the device feel in hand was amazing, the glass of the phone is so fragile. Customer service is such a disappointment that you would rather go to an after warranty service providers.

Second was Redmi Note 3 and it had network issues, apps started force closing in background and the process to return the device was such a chore. Even if you lock Saavn to memory it itself force closed when I minimized it to browse something on Chrome. Jio 4G was getting automatically disconnected from time to time.

The device was purchased from Mi.com on 6th April, 2016 and return was approved on 8th April, 2016, but no pickup was done up until 26th May, 2016. A total of 20 calls exchanged and had to explain same issue again and again, and their reply we are aware of the issue an OTA will roll out soon, but the OTA never rolled out till now.

Next was Mi5 as it looked so sleek, I decided to buy with my Redmi Note 3 scheduled for return, I got it on 16th April, 2016 and the phone rebooted every day at least once. It had all the issues like Redmi Note 3 and an addition was the random reboots. 3GB and SD820 aren’t enough to power this so called flagship killer.

And to my shock the display cracked from the home button while it was in my pocket. So this has made me realise everything might look fine on paper, but real experience is decided by software. If the software is perfectly tuned even Snapdragon 800 can outdo the Snapdragon 820 in terms of users experience.

So before buying Mi products make sure not to buy from Mi.com and if you still want to grab one prefer Amazon, Snapdeal or Flipkart as it will be easier to get a refund or replacement if device is faulty.

It has been the practice by them to offer a device which looks like a steal deal on paper, but in reality is an half-baked cookie.
