Chinese company Huawei Terminal’s smartphone brand, Honor has recently introduced the latest model in the lineup – the Honor 8 in its home market China. The new Honor 8 is a mid-ranged smartphone model that has gone on sale in the Chinese mobile market in July this year and is offered in three versions – a 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of onboard memory model that is priced at 1,999 Yuan (approx Rs. 20,000), a 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB of inbuilt storage version, priced at 2,299 Yuan (approx Rs. 23,000) and the top of the range model with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of inbuilt storage that has been tagged at 2,499 Yuan (approx Rs. 25,000).
Honor smartphones are quite popular in the Indian mobile market as well and although the company has yet not revealed its plans to release the Honor 8 in the markets outside China, it is soon expected to hit the Indian shores. The most attention grabbing feature of the new Honor 8 is its dual primary camera at its rear. The smartphone gets powered by an Octa core Kirin 950 chipset that has been clocked at a speed of 1.8 GHz. The processor is backed by a choice of 3 GB or 4 GB of RAM. The handset runs on the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system that is topped with the EMUI 4.1 skin.
The Honor 8 packs in a fingerprint scanner placed at its rear. This rear center fingerprint sensor also serves as a camera button to click pictures. This smart fingerprint sensor is called a smart key and works like a multi-purpose button and can be program to launch apps directly with multiple press and hold action options.
The new Chinese smartphone model draws its juice from a nice 3000 mAh non-removable battery pack which is great to sail you through a whole day of work and play. Considering its chipset and display, the battery is quite impressively efficient. The smartphone is fast charge enabled. The device can be charged up quickly and comes with a USB Type-C port.
Storage & Connectivity
The new Honor 8 comes with a choice of 32 GB and 64 GB options, although it is yet not clear whether it will come with both the options to India or not. The smartphone offers the flexibility to expand the storage through a microSD card to up to 128 GB.
The smartphone comes with a hybrid dual-hybrid SIM slot that allows you to either use two SIM cards or utilize one SIM card slot as a microSD card slot for memory expansion.
The device offers all the latest standard connectivity options including 4G LTE support, 3G, Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.2, GPRS/ EDGE, hotspot tethering, GPS, Glonass, NFC, Infrared sensor and USB type C port.
