After reducing the Redmi Note 4G price by INR 2000 and Mi 4 by INR 5000, Chinese giant Xiaomi could also be seeking to launch its most cost-effective smartphone so far, the Redmi 2A in India on July 7. The Redmi 2A is solely a toned down model of its popular Redmi 2 and is at the moment unique to China.
The company took to its social media accounts across different platforms to tease the fans. The accompanying image tagged with the tease hints at two possibilities, either the launch of cheaper Redmi 2A with Spreadtrum or Mediatek chipset or slashing the price of Redmi 2 to INR 5999, either way we will get the official info which will be revealed on July 7.
In both of the instances, INR 5,999 is the price tag as revealed by the teaser picture. So, to sum it up, Xiaomi might both cut back the worth of the Redmi 2 down from Rs.6,999 to Rs.5,999 or it could launch the Redmi 2A, which is a cheaper, trimmed down variant of the Redmi 2 on the talked about value.
The company might also be trying to launch the 2GB variant of the Redmi 2 for the currently retailing price of INR 6999 as competition from Coolpad and Yu Yuphoria is causing a huge loss to Xiaomi.
The Redmi 2A was launched by Xiaomi in China a couple of months ago. It comes with the identical 4.7-inch HD display, 8GB internal storage, 2,200mAh battery, and 4G LTE support as the original Redmi 2.
The primary change is within the processor. Not like the Redmi 2, the Redmi 2A comes with a 1.5GHz quad-core Leadcore LC1860C CPU with Mali T628MP2 GPU , but it may have a Spreadtrum or Mediatek SoC in Indian variant and 1GB of RAM. The Redmi 2 is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 410 CPU with Adreno 306 GPU and 1GB of RAM.
In the meantime, the 2GB variant of the smartphone retains all of the options as the original Redmi 2, the change being simply the doubled up RAM memory in case of the Redmi 2 (2GB).
